As a result of the training, the trainee should acquire knowledge and skills in the field of
switching on and pre-adjusting the radar indicator, proper selection of the position of the control elements according to the task performed, including influencing the detectability, size of echoes and distinguishability, efficient identification of the echo of objects on the screen on the basis of a navigation map and visual observation, proficiency in radar measurements using available methods, minimizing errors, and determination of observed positions, correct interpretation of the radar image, including in distortion and interference conditions with position, course, speed, closest approach distance and time to reach this distance estimation, handling plot functions available in radar with understanding, using algorithms procedures specified in the radar manual, recognition and use of signals from devices cooperating with the radar, diagnosis of the radar efficiency status and initial localization of the damage occurrence, use of documents related to the sea with a navigation radar, obtaining information about objects visible on the radar screen, assessing collision situations, planning and performing anti-collision maneuvers and checking the effectiveness of actions taken, using radar devices to conduct safe navigation and avoiding collisions in various navigation areas, initiating object tracking, obtaining and correctly interpreting information generated by the ARPA system, taking into account errors and limitations of ARPA devices, simulation of anti-collision maneuvers, using additional navigation functions available inARPA, using ARPA and other navigation devices to conduct safe navigation and avoid collisions in various navigation areas, with particular emphasis on the exchange of ARPA-AIS information -ECDIS, use of ARPA and radar, taking into account MPDM regulations, testing ARPA devices. |
